The New York Giants lost their third straight game in Week 9, falling 34-24 to the San Francisco 49ers. Shane Bowen's defense surrendered 30-plus points for the third straight game, and any semblance of promise or optimism Giants fans had is officially gone without a trace.

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart played relatively well once again, throwing for nearly 200 yards with three total touchdowns, but nobody around him did enough. The offense clearly misses both Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers, and Mike Kafka's unit, without its stars, is becoming borderline unwatchable.

There are no playoffs in the future for Big Blue, yet head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are going to have to do whatever's necessary to save their jobs before Tuesday's trade deadline. These constant updates are pulling fans in all directions, and the Week 9 loss is bringing some ugly truths to light.

The Giants are failing Jaxson Dart

I know this isn't what any Giants fan wants to hear, but it's true. New York failed Daniel Jones, who is looking like an MVP candidate in Indianapolis, and is at risk of letting history repeat itself. The first-round rookie clearly looks like the long-term answer for the G-Men, if they find a way to set him up for success.

The 22-year-old has the talent, but throwing to Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, Beaux Collins, and Jalin Hyatt won't cut it. Yes, I realize both Nabers and Skattebo are out for the year, but the Giants need to add better pass-catchers for their QB1 before the start of next season.

Making any splash at the deadline is a huge mistake

The 2-7 Giants boast the second-worst record in the NFC, only ahead of a New Orleans Saints team that beat them back in Week 4.

Any and all playoff hopes evaporated after their pathetic Denver Broncos loss back in Week 7, so making a win-now move is the biggest mistake this team can make.

Trading premium draft capital for a Jaylen Waddle or Chris Olave makes no sense when Big Blue can more than likely draft Jordyn Tyson or Carnell Tate in the first round of the 2026 Draft, which would give them the perfect running mate for their Pro Bowl WR1 — and one on an affordable rookie deal.

WR is the biggest need this team has, but there's a better way to address it.

The entire coaching staff should have been fired by now

This is probably the most obvious truth here, but clearly, John Mara doesn't see the vision. Daboll is losing the locker room, and even Schoen's strong track record over his last two drafts isn't enough to save his job. Both are on the hot seat, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why.

Bowen's defense is absolutely awful, yet the front office refuses to let him go. It's becoming clear every day that if New York wants to return to the playoffs, it will be done once a change in leadership is made. This roster has the talent, but fans know this isn't the right regime.

Jalin Hyatt needs to be traded or released

If the 2022-Biletnikoff Award winner wasn't a draft bust before, he is now. The third-year wideout's drop problems persist to the point where Schoen and Daboll should try and trade him at the deadline in hopes of getting anything for him.

Hyatt has went three straight games without catching a pass, with his last reception coming against the Eagles in Week 6. In a Giants' incredibly unimpressive receiver room, the fact he can't even consistently see the field is pathetic.

At this point, they just need to cut bait.
