The Jaxson Dart era is officially greenlit in East Rutherford, and it didn’t take long for the buzz to get real. Russell Wilson’s inconsistencies — stacked on top of a lifeless offense and a 0-3 start — finally opened the door for a quarterback switch. Two days after MetLife Stadium erupted with “We want Dart” chants during their home opener, head coach Brian Daboll made the move.

It’s the kind of fresh start this team desperately needed. After going 9-28 since their fluky playoff run in 2022, there hasn’t been a whole lot for Giants fans to get excited about. But now? They get to see the rookie. They get to see the 22-year-old quarterback they traded back into the first round to get. And they get to see him against a real team, in a real game, at home.

Even better? The locker room seems just as fired up as the fans. None more so than Dexter Lawrence, who told reporters this week that Dart was his favorite quarterback in the draft. “I like his game, confident dude... he’s not just an average guy... I don’t think nobody can take his swagger,” Lawrence said, via Madelyn Burke.

Hearing a team captain, defensive cornerstone, and one of the best players on the roster give that kind of praise to a rookie quarterback making his first start — that’s not nothing. It matters. Especially after how fractured and uninspired this team has looked for stretches over the last couple of seasons.

It’s clear everyone — including the locker room — is rooting for Dart, and it’s equally clear the coaching staff finally realized the upside was too high to ignore. This is a team that’s still very much in the process of figuring itself out, and if Dart’s as good as advertised, this could be the start of a legitimate turnaround. Could you imagine?

This team needed a spark. This locker room needed some juice. And it sounds like Sexy Dexy thinks Jaxson Dart’s got enough swagger to give them both. Time for Giants fans to see if Dart’s got the game to match the swag.
