If you thought the New York Giants cornering of the safety market during free agency was funny, wait until you see how they've decimated the defensive linemen market post-draft.

Joe Schoen and John Harbaugh are actively draining the talent pool and leaving their NFC rivals out to dry. While other front offices were too busy patting themselves on the back for their draft hauls, the G-Men were working the phones to ensure that any remaining veteran impact players ended up in East Rutherford, specifically along the defensive line.

By bringing back Jason Pinnock and adding Ar'Darius Washington and Elijah Campbell earlier this spring, Big Blue already established a "we'll add anyone and everyone we think can help" mentality.

But the real heist happened in the trenches over the last few days. Since the draft concluded, New York has scooped up D.J. Reader, Shelby Harris, Leki Fotu, and Zacch Pickens -- who they claimed off waivers from the Chiefs. Combined with sixth-round pick Bobby Jamison-Travis, the Giants have built a fortress on the interior that most teams would kill for. And some might already be kicking themselves for standing pat.

Joe Schoen’s monopoly on defensive linemen leaves the NFC scrambling for answers

This isn’t just about the G-Men getting better -- it’s more so about the rest of the conference getting worse by proxy.

As the dust settles on the 2026 Draft, several NFC heavyweights are still looking at literal massive vacancies on their defensive fronts with almost no veteran recourse left. By hoarding all the big men, Schoen has effectively put a "Closed" sign on the veteran market, forcing rivals to rely on unproven rookies or training-camp castoffs to get the job done.

The fallout from these signings will be felt most acutely in the NFC North and South. The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers both entered the post-draft phase desperate for interior help to fix struggling run defenses, but with Reader, Harris, and Fotu now wearing Giants blue, their options are drying out.

Similarly, the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings are still hunting for interior depth, only to find that New York has already signed the best available thumpers to rotate alongside their starters.

Ultimately, this is an absolute masterclass in roster leverage. The Giants have turned a position of need into a position of unyielding power. While the rest of the NFC scrambles to find a high-end rotation-worthy defensive tackle, the G-Men will be heading into camp with a rotation so deep it borders on Mariana Trench territory.

Shoutout to Schoen and Harby for having the foresight to screw over some teams they might see in January while addressing their biggest remaining need post-draft.
