It's been a pretty savage roster-cut day for the New York Giants. After wasting no time washing their hands of training camp standout Montrell Washington, three other preseason heroes have gotten the axe.

Tommy DeVito, Elijah Chatman, and Dante "Turbo" Miller couldn't turn impressive offseasons into a roster spot, leaving fans questioning who impressed enough to make the roster. Surely the preseason touchdown leader was safe, right? Apparently not. In another relatively surprising turn of events, the team has cut tight end Greg Dulcich, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The preseason standout caught seven of his eight targets for 53 yards and three touchdowns. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart looked to have a special rhythm with the 25-year-old. However, it was all for naught, and now Big Blue's vision for the tight end room looks a little clearer after his release.

Giants rookie Thomas Fidone II is the biggest winner of Greg Dulcich roster cut

The G-Men knew they were going to need to trim their tight end room down. Five guys were competing for three or four spots, so at least one of the guys had to be the odd man out.

Dulcich flashed early promise as a pass-catching tight end with the Broncos in 2022 but has been derailed by injuries and inconsistency ever since. After multiple hamstring setbacks and limited production, he was waived in 2024 and claimed by Big Blue, where even a strong 2025 preseason wasn’t enough to earn him a roster spot.

With Dulcich now out of the picture, it might just be a two-horse race for that final roster spot between Daniel Bellinger and seventh-round rookie Thomas Fidone II. Theo Johnson is the starter. Chris Manhertz looks like a roster lock. It'll all come down to whether or not the team fields three or four tight ends.

Bellinger's role feels duplicative since Manhertz is likely going nowhere. The 24-year-old is a solid blocker with limited pass-catching upside. And unfortunately, he's not as good a blocker as Manhertz. Fidone has flashed all camp and preseason and might have just solidified his roster spot with this cut.

The rookie has had his own share of injuries in college, but there's no denying he could be a hidden gem if he can stay on the field. His massive 6-foot-5, 255-pound frame and athleticism could lend him a relatively large offensive role early and often. There’s also a world where Bellinger gets the boot, and the team rolls with its promising rookie instead.

Cut day has a way of rewriting the depth chart in real time, and this one’s no different. The G-Men have moved on from multiple preseason standouts, and with Dulcich now off the board, the vision for this tight end room is finally coming into focus. The names left standing might not have led the box scores, but they’re the ones Daboll and Schoen are betting on moving forward.
