Magic Number: 9

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

With another Giants win yesterday, the magic number for them to clinch the division has dropped to single digits and sits at nine.
For those of you who don’t know what the magic number is, it represents any combination of Giants wins and Redskins losses (since they are the 2nd place team) that it takes to eliminate the second place team from winning the division. So any number of Giants win and Redskins losses that equals nine will give the NFC East crown to the New York Giants.

Monday Morning Hangover

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

It was the best game the Giants had played in since the Super Bowl and boy was it a battle. The win over the Steelers on Sunday afternoon kept the Giants atop the NFC East, alone in first, for at least another week, but the fact of the matter is that their 21-14 victory over Pittsburgh should not have been as close as it was.
There is a problem with the 2008 New York Giants. Sure they are 6-1 and only a few wins away from a postseason berth, but there is a looming problem that nearly cost them a win [...]

An Important Weekend

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just how big is Week 8 in the NFL this weekend? Well, considering it is the half way point in the season (actually the 47% way point), there have been no bigger stories until this week in the season.
The Giants are 5-1 and are leading the NFC East and the Washington Redskins (5-2) by half a game. They do hold the head-to-head tiebreaker on the Redskins, but a lot could change after Sunday. With Washington playing the Lions in what is as automatic as a win can get in professional sports, we can call Washington 6-2 at this point. And [...]

Back In Action

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

After a week away from the G-Men HQ, there is a lot to talk about.
The Giants beat the 49ers like everyone expected and that was the final straw in San Fran as they sent Mike Nolan packing earlier today. But what a win for the Giants who have now inched a win closer to the postseason. And are now just a 5-5 record from clinching that magical record of 10-6 that is a guaranteed playoff berth.
Now there is much to talk about with the NFC East with the events that took place over the weekend, but let’s start first with [...]

Embarrassing

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well I guess I owe an apology to Chris Mortensen for bashing him on his pick of the Browns over the Giants tonight. He was right and I was wrong, very wrong.
Who was that team wearing the New York Giants uniforms playing against the Cleveland Browns? Because it wasn’t the New York Giants team we saw in their other four games this season.
The Giants were awful right from the opening drive of the game. They continuously let Derek Anderson throw down the field and make the big play on them and it was actually rather disgusting to watch. Every third [...]

Giants @ Browns Preview

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well what is there left to say about the game tonight? The Giants are 4-0. The Browns are 1-3. There is no reason that the New York Giants should lose this game tonight considering they are the most well-rounded team in the NFL and they are playing a team whose only win this year came against a team that is currently 0-6.
The Giants have been slaughtering their opponents and tonight should be no different. The predictions everywhere are calling for a Giant win in the form of a blowout by double digits and I am not sure if that is [...]
