Everyone goes home a winner

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Making the Super Bowl has enough perks as is, but the winning team on Sunday will get a bonus for making it to the championship game, but so will the losers.
According to Ralph Vacchiano over at The Blue Screen, each player on the winning team will receive $78,000 while every player on the losing team will go home with $40,000.
Sunday, the Giants play for their first Super Bowl title since 1991 and the biggest upset in football history. The Patriots play for a perfect 19-0 season and to be called the greatest team in football history. And at the same [...]

Breakdown of Defenses

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Patriots once won games and championships based on their defense, but that is no longer the case. The Giants have relied on their defense to save multiple games and their season, and without the infamous goal-line stand of Week 3, the Giants probably aren’t playing in the Super Bowl. Actually, they definitely aren’t playing the Super Bowl and they probably finish the season around .500 or less and Elite is the goat of the city. However, that is not the case, though I am sure the bitter, heartbroken, embarrassed, devastated Dallas fans who chime in on this site wish [...]

Eli vs Peyton

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

Elite Manning is not Peyton Manning (yet), and I understand they are two different players and two different people. It is unfair for critics to try to judge Eli based on his brother as it is rare two siblings both become starting QBs in the NFL. When you think about it…there are 32 starting QBs in the NFL in the world. What are the chances two of the 32 come from the same family?
Here is a comparison of the two brothers after their first three seasons in the NFL:
Eli’s numbers are on the left. Eli has a 29-19 regular season record and 3-2 playoff [...]

Breakdown of Special Teams

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

When it comes to special teams, the Giants and Patriots are somewhat on an even scale. I am not sure anyone on either club feels comfortable when Lawrence Tynes or Stephen Gostowski goes on the field with a lengthy kick and time running out. And I am certain neither team wants their chances at winning XLII on the shoulders of either kicker.
Tynes obviously hit the game-winning kick against the Packers, but he did miss two shorter kicks in the fourth quarter alone. If you let Tynes replay the game again, he most likely makes the first two and misses the [...]

Media Day is today

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The story about Tom Brady’s walking cast, his boot, his limp, and any other report that has surfaced since the AFC Championship can all be put to rest now that Brady is practicing. As if he was going to sit out the Super Bowl. For the past nine days Tom Brady’s status for Super Bowl XLII has been questioned enough that he has not left the front and/or back covers of multiple newspapers. The fact that this story has become such an event is the sole reason why this two-week layoff before the Super Bowl is ridiculous.
I mean if you like [...]

Review of Week 17

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Giants played the Patriots closer in Week 17 than any other team had done all season, leading for most of the game before surrendering their lead to Tom Brady and Randy Moss. The 38-35 loss was a monetum booster for the G-Men who were entering the playoffs on a bad not after having played poorly in the final weeks of the season. The loss to the Patriots gave them hope that they could play with any team in the league on any night.
If not for some stupid penalties by the Giants they might have been able to win that game. Had [...]

How the Giants got to Super Bowl XLII

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Giants took a tough road to get where they are today, putting themselves in a tough position to make the playoffs and then a harder one having to play the #5, #1, and #2 seeds in order to win the NFC.After their losses in both Week 1 and Week 2, I thought they might not win a game givne their horrific play and the unknown status of then Eli Manning (now Elite Manning). They put up 35 at Dallas, only to give up 45, and then went on to lose the 4th quarter 21-0 to the Packers, who no [...]

Feagles the difference maker

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Giants | COMMENTS: None Yet

There are a lot of stories out about how the Giants have to manage the clock and how that is the only way they can beat the Patriots.
Well, I am not so sure that is the only way you can beat New England, but keeping them from excellent field position would be a start.
How many times last week did we see San Diego kickoff and the Patriots would catch it at their own 20 and return it to the 40, putting them a couple first downs away from FG range? The Chargers were basically handing out points to the Patriots [...]
